A 1749 French translation of Francis Hutcheson's two treatises on beauty and on moral good and evil, printed with a false Amsterdam imprint (in fact Paris) for readers of moral philosophy, and surviving in John Adams's library at the Boston Public Library. The plates are letterpress printer's ornaments — small symmetrical foliate tailpieces with a ribbed shell or cartouche flanked by berried laurel sprays — plus a strip of combed marbled paper in blue, red and ochre.
