Recherches sur l'usage et l'origine des tapisseries à personnages dites historiées, depuis l'antiquité jusqu'au 16e siècle inclusivement
A scholarly study of figured tapestry from antiquity to the sixteenth century, written by Achille Jubinal and published in Paris by Challamel in 1840 for antiquarians and collectors. The plates reproduce medieval tapestry compositions as line engravings: tiers of crowded figures in court dress and armour, ships and drowning bodies, and framed banderoles carrying French verse, useful for borders, crowd scenes and inscription panels.
