Recueil d'antiquités égyptiennes, étrusques, greques et romaines
A seven-volume antiquarian catalogue of Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek and Roman objects assembled by the comte de Caylus and published in Paris from 1752 for collectors and scholars. Line engravings isolate single artefacts against blank paper — seated basalt figures, mummiform statuettes, engraved gems, rings, ship prows and coin profiles — each with a numeral and scale bar, useful as cut-out silhouettes.
