Recueil d'antiquités égyptiennes, étrusques, greques et romaines
A seven-volume antiquarian catalogue of Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek and Roman objects assembled and described by the comte de Caylus, published in Paris by Desaint & Saillant from 1752 for collectors, artists and scholars of antiquity. The plates are outline engravings of single objects — statuettes, mummiform figures, bronze heads, intaglio gems — modelled in fine parallel hatching, numbered in Roman numerals and set on bare paper, useful as isolated silhouettes and as examples of hatched volume.
