Recueil d'antiquités égyptiennes, étrusques, greques et romaines
A seven-volume antiquarian catalogue of Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek and Roman objects, compiled by the collector Anne Claude Philippe, comte de Caylus, and published by Desaint & Saillant in Paris from 1752 for scholars, artists and fellow collectors. Engraved plates set vases, urns, glass flasks, bronze pins, small portrait heads and concentric disc ornaments against bare paper, each item labelled with Roman numerals and modelled in fine hatching that designers can lift as isolated silhouettes or grouped specimen arrangements.
