Regimental colors in the war of the revolution, by Gherardi Davis
A privately printed antiquarian study of American Revolutionary regimental flags, compiled by Gherardi Davis and issued by the Gilliss Press in New York in 1907 for collectors and historical societies. Plates are photographs and tinted facsimiles of surviving silk colors, many torn and frayed, showing painted eagles, scrolled mottoes, crosses and stripes, useful for heraldic devices, banner shapes and aged-textile texture.
