Regula emblematica Sancti Benedicti
A Latin emblem book setting the Rule of St Benedict as a series of symbolic devices, compiled by the Benedictine Bonifaz Gallner and printed in Vienna in 1783 for monastic readers. Its 195 small circular copperplates hold single objects — an open book under a descending dove, a capped post, sun and moon in hatched cloud — clean line stock for roundels, spot symbols and device marks.
