The religious system of China, its ancient forms, evolution, history and present aspect, manners, customs and social institutions connected therewith
A multi-volume ethnographic study of Chinese religion, funerary rites and ancestor worship by the Dutch sinologist J. J. M. de Groot, issued by E. J. Brill at Leyden from 1892 for European scholars and orientalists. The plates are sepia halftones of grave clothes, embroidered robes, caps and belts laid out flat, alongside outline drawings of robe construction with repeating border patterns, giving designers flat garment silhouettes, roundel and dragon motifs, and usable geometric trim.
