Remarques historiques sur les medailles et les monnoyes
A French-language commentary on medals and coins by the German antiquary Johann David Köhler, printed in Berlin by J.P. Schmid in 1740 for collectors and scholars of numismatics. The pictures are letterpress woodcut ornaments: symmetrical tailpieces of acanthus scrolls, winged leaf forms, beaded drops and a fanned shell, plus wider foliate headbands, all in coarse black line usable as rules, dividers and small heraldic-looking devices.
