Report of the Commissioner of Patents for the year ..
An annual government report from the United States Patent Office, printed in Washington in 1849 for Congress, patent applicants, and the farmers served by its agricultural section. The plates are wood-engraved grids of beetles, bugs, moths, caterpillars, and pupae, captioned "natural size" or "magnified," alongside stray diagrams such as a hatched drawing of an animal stomach, offering compact specimen silhouettes and repeatable insect motifs.
