Official multi-volume report of the U.S. Army survey of lands west of the 100th meridian, led by Lieutenant George M. Wheeler and printed by the Government Printing Office in Washington in 1875 for Congress and scientists. Plates pair tonal lithographic views of canyon walls and river bends with line diagrams of triangulation networks, giving designers rock-texture landscapes and sparse geometric survey figures.
