The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
A monthly London magazine issued by Rudolph Ackermann from 1809, mixing art, commerce, manufactures and politics for well-off British readers, with hand-coloured plates of current dress and decorative goods. The fashion plates show single women in high-waisted Regency gowns, bonnets, pelisses and shawls, drawn in fine outline and tinted in pale washes with pink and buff accents against blank or lightly sketched grounds, giving designers cut-out figures, costume detail and period colour.
