Rudolph Ackermann's monthly London miscellany of art, fashion, manufactures and politics, issued from 1809 for a genteel metropolitan readership interested in dress, furnishing and design. Hand-coloured aquatint and engraved plates show single standing figures in walking and evening dress with ruffs, ruffled hems and plumed headdresses, alongside Gothic-detailed furniture drawn in perspective with tracery panels and carved crockets, plus flowers and carpet patterns useful as period costume reference, ornament motifs and soft pastel palettes.
