The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
Rudolph Ackermann's monthly London miscellany of art, fashion, commerce and politics, begun in 1809 and sold to affluent Regency readers who wanted plates as much as text. The hand-coloured aquatints and engravings run to country houses and villas framed by trees, garden and park views, and single figures in walking dresses and cloaks drawn against light backgrounds, giving designers Regency architecture, costume silhouettes and soft washed foliage.
