The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
A monthly London magazine issued by Rudolph Ackermann from 1809, mixing art, commerce, fashion and politics for a well-off British readership, and illustrated with hand-coloured aquatint plates. The plates show full-length figures in high-waisted Regency dress with parasols and shawls, single pieces of furniture drawn against blank paper, and interior views of shops and showrooms, giving designers isolated costume silhouettes, period chair and sofa profiles, and colour-washed line work.
