The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
A monthly illustrated magazine issued by Rudolph Ackermann in London from 1809, mixing fashion reports, furniture designs, topography and politics for well-off British readers. The plates are hand-coloured aquatints and engravings: Regency dresses drawn full-length against blank grounds, country seats set in parkland with framing trees, and decorative interiors, giving designers pale washed colour, fine ruled architectural detail and isolated costume figures easy to cut out.
