The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
Rudolph Ackermann's monthly London magazine of art, fashion, manufactures and politics, issued from 1809 for the Regency middle- and upper-class reader, with hand-coloured aquatint plates bound into each number. Plates show single women in high-waisted muslin gowns with sashes and embroidered hems, and country houses and villas seen across lawns through framing trees, all in soft watercolour washes over fine etched line — useful for period costume detail, architectural views and pale hand-tinted palettes.
