The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
Rudolph Ackermann's monthly London magazine, begun in 1809, mixed art, fashion, commerce and politics for prosperous Regency readers, with hand-coloured aquatint plates bound into each issue. Plates show country houses and villas set in parkland, single fashion figures in day and evening dress, and furniture and interior ornament, giving designers period costume silhouettes, architectural elevations and soft watercolour palettes.
