The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
Rudolph Ackermann's monthly London miscellany of art, fashion, manufactures and politics, begun in 1809 and aimed at affluent Regency readers who followed dress and interior taste. The plates are hand-coloured aquatint and etched figures in high-waisted gowns, fur-trimmed pelisses and lace caps, shown beside urns, pedestals and small dogs, with separate pages of engraved border ornament and foliate frames usable as period costume reference, decorative rules and page surrounds.
