The Repository of arts, literature, commerce, manufactures, fashions and politics
A monthly London magazine issued by Rudolph Ackermann from 1809, mixing fashion, decorative art, architecture and commerce for affluent British readers. Hand-coloured aquatint plates show single female figures in day and evening dress with elaborate hats and flounced hems, country houses in wooded landscapes, and black-and-white line borders of flowers and foliage — useful for period costume silhouettes, Regency architectural views and repeating ornament strips.
