Researches into Chinese superstitions, by Henry Doré, S.J. ;
A Jesuit missionary's survey of Chinese popular religion, magic and folklore, written by Henri Doré and translated by M. Kennelly, printed in Shanghai by the T'usewei Press in 1926 for Western missionaries and scholars. Plates run from flat-tinted diagrams — a palm mapped with characters on the finger joints, a divining tub ringed with cyclic signs — to rows of outline ear profiles and figures drawn in single red line, all captioned in French and English.
