Researches into Chinese superstitions, by Henry Doré, S.J. ;
Henri Doré's Researches into Chinese Superstitions, a Jesuit missionary's survey of Chinese popular religion translated by M. Kennelly and printed at the Túsewei Press in Shanghai in 1926, compiled for Western readers and missionaries. The plates are colour lithographs of deities seated on lotus thrones above scrolled water, each with Chinese caption and romanised name, plus black-ground rubbings of stone-carved figures; useful for flat colour robe patterns, stylised wave borders, crowns, and white-on-black line work.
