Revue comique à l'usage des gens sérieux

1848 · Paris : Dumineray · 548 pictures

A satirical illustrated weekly issued in Paris by Dumineray in 1848, mocking the politicians, journalists and street life of the new Second Republic for a middle-class readership. The wood engravings are loose pen caricatures: hook-nosed deputies in frock coats and knee breeches, gesturing crowds, newspapers held up as props, figures dissolving into scribbled hatching and blank ground.
