Observations Astronomiques et Physiques faites en L'isle de Caïenne
Jean Richer's report on the astronomical and physical measurements he made at Cayenne in French Guiana, published in Paris in 1729 for the Académie Royale des Sciences and its readers of longitude and Jupiter-satellite observations. The pictures here are woodcut typographic ornaments: a headpiece of putti with a sunburst medallion and banner lettering flanking a globe, and a tailpiece of scrolled foliage with a flower spray, both useful as period page furniture, borders and spot devices.
