An Italian architectural polemic by the Venetian engineer Matteo Lucchesi, printed by Stefano Monti in Venice in 1730, disputing a rival author's claimed discovery of the Tuscan entablature in the amphitheatre at Verona and addressed to architects and antiquarians. The engravings are measured line drawings: rusticated arcade elevations, cornice and capital profiles in close section, dense ruled hatching, keyed letters and italic Italian labels such as abbaco, ovolo and collarino.
