Roma ristavrata, et Italia illustrata
Lucio Fauno's Italian translation of Flavio Biondo's antiquarian surveys of ancient Rome and Italy, printed by Michele Tramezzino in Venice in 1542 for readers of Roman topography and architecture. The pictures are small woodcut initials with figures set against dense hatched grounds — a bearded man and ram inside an R, winged putti forming a V — usable as display letters, vignettes or texture samples.
