A Dutch emblem book compiled by the Amsterdam bookseller-writer Dirck Pietersz. Pers and published there in 1614, pairing moralized pictures and Latin mottoes with verse commentary for readers pursuing wisdom. Small copperplate engravings set allegorical figures, personifications, animals and crowds in landscapes with walled towns, framed by ruled borders and captions useful as ready-made emblem vignettes, ornament and motto banners.
