Rossetti and his circle
Max Beerbohm's 1922 volume of caricature, published by Heinemann in London, portrays Dante Gabriel Rossetti and the Pre-Raphaelite and aesthetic figures around him for an English readership that still remembered them. The 29 plates are tinted pen-and-watercolour drawings in muted greens, dusty pinks and greys, showing lounging bearded men, trailing skirts and studio interiors, with captions handwritten below; useful for figure silhouettes, limp Victorian tailoring and soft pastel colour schemes.
