The royal lineage of our noble and gentle families. Together with their paternal ancestry ..
A genealogical and heraldic reference compiled by Joseph Foster and published in London by Hatchards in 1884, tracing the royal descent of British gentry families for antiquarians and family historians. The plates reproduce a repeated Renaissance-style woodcut headpiece: a helmeted shield with mantling set in a strapwork cartouche, flanked by grotesque lions, scrolled brackets and a signed monogram, usable as rule-work, banner ends and coarse-line ornament.
