A popular history of England's royal palaces and court life by Scottish historian Robert S. Rait with Marjory Hollings, published in London by Constable in 1911 for general readers. The 34 plates reproduce older topographical engravings: long low elevations of Whitehall and Tudor gatehouses, park and river views with small figures, carriages and horsemen, all in fine etched line with open sky and blank foreground for overprinting.
