The Royal Scottish Academy, 1826-1916; a complete list of the exhibited works by Raeburn and by academicians, associates and hon. members, giving details of those works in public galleries
A reference catalogue of works exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1826 to 1916, compiled by Frank Rinder and academician William D. McKay and published in Glasgow in 1917 for art historians, dealers and collectors. The plates are halftone reproductions of painted portraits of Scottish academicians, mostly half-length men in dark coats and white collars against unlit backgrounds, useful for soft-edged greyscale figures, oval head-and-shoulders vignettes and low-key tonal backdrops.
