The Rt. Hon. John Bright, M. P. : cartoons from the collection of "Mr. Punch"
A collection of John Tenniel-style political cartoons from Punch magazine reprinted in 1898 by the Punch Office in London, tracing the parliamentary career of Liberal statesman John Bright for a late-Victorian readership. The wood-engraved plates use dense cross-hatching and heavy outline to build stout frock-coated politicians, top hats, sailors and giant workmen against sparse backgrounds, giving designers ready-made caricature figures, lettered slogans set into the ground, and reusable hatching textures.
