Ruins of Buddhistic temples in Pragä valley: Tyandis Barabudur, Mendut and Pawon
An archaeological survey of the Borobudur, Mendut and Pawon temples in Java's Progo valley, written by the Dutch physician and antiquarian Isaac Groneman and published in Semarang in 1912 for European readers and colonial travellers. The plates are halftone photographs of carved stone relief panels—framed narrative scenes of seated figures, trees and pavilions in shallow relief—plus distant views of the terraced monument, all in grainy grey tones useful for texture, stone ornament and figure groupings.
