Runir [in Runic characters], seu, Danica literatura antiqvissima

Worm, Ole, 1588-1654 · 1651 · Hafniæ [Copenhagen] : Imprimebat M. Martzan & G. Holst · 24 pictures

Ole Worm's Latin treatise on runic writing, printed by Martzan and Holst in Copenhagen in 1651 for antiquarians and scholars of Nordic inscriptions. Woodcuts copy runestone inscriptions as blocky brick-patterned borders and looping ribbon scrolls filled with rune rows, alongside foliate initials and an interlaced arrowhead tailpiece, giving designers runic alphabets, banner shapes and dense black-line ornament.
