Russian festivals and costumes for pageant and dance
A 1921 handbook by Louis H. Chalif, published by his Chalif Russian School of Dancing in New York, setting out Russian festivals, folk costume and dance for teachers staging pageants. Halftone plates reproduce embroidered towel-ends and borders in counted cross-stitch: tiered trees, domed churches, birds, horsemen and rows of stiff figures, plus geometric bands usable as repeats.
