The Philosophical magazine; a journal of theoretical, experimental and applied physics
The Philosophical Magazine was a London scientific journal begun in 1798 and later issued by Taylor & Francis, carrying theoretical and experimental physics papers for researchers and instrument makers. The plates are fine engraved line diagrams: ray paths traced through lenses and mirrors in tall symmetrical fans, with lettered points, circles and hatched bars, useful as pale geometric linework, optical schematics and diagram lettering.
