The Philosophical magazine; a journal of theoretical, experimental and applied physics
A long-running British scientific periodical begun in 1798 and published in London by Taylor & Francis, carrying papers on theoretical, experimental and applied physics for researchers and instrument makers. The plates are engraved diagram sheets crowded with numbered figures: magnets and iron filings, compass circles, optical apparatus, prisms, coils and measurement scales, useful as line-art fragments, technical ornament, or grid-like arrangements of small precise forms.
