A Jesuit emblem book on the cross and Christian patience, written by Pedro de Bivero and printed in Antwerp by the Plantin press of Balthasar Moretus in 1634 for Catholic devotional readers. The copperplate engravings show crucified figures, martyrs and saints on crosses, ringed by soldiers with lances and banners, ladders, kneeling onlookers and small hill towns in the distance, offering fine-lined anatomical figure studies, armour and drapery details, and compact landscape backgrounds.
