The Savoy
A quarterly London literary and art magazine edited by Arthur Symons with Aubrey Beardsley as art editor, issued by Leonard Smithers in 1896 for readers of avant-garde poetry, fiction and criticism. Its plates mix reproductions of William Blake's engravings and watercolours with contemporary pen drawings, offering swirling flame and water linework, figures wrapped in tree roots and drapery, and flat black-and-white silhouette panels usable as borders, endpapers or full-page ornament.
