A schizzo on the genius of man : in which, among various subjects, the merit of Mr. Thomas Barker, the celebrated young painter of Bath, is particularly considered, and his pictures reviewed
Edward Harington's 1793 essay on artistic genius, printed at Bath by Richard Cruttwell and sold in London, arguing the merits of the young Bath painter Thomas Barker to a provincial readership of collectors and connoisseurs. The plates are sparse line etchings: a picture-hung drawing room with sitters at a card table and a chandelier, a rustic outdoor group beneath a tree, plus an engraved monogram cartouche and long-s letterpress worth lifting for period type and interior staging.
