The school of the heart, or, The heart (of itself gone away from God) brought back again to Him, and instructed by Him : in forty-seven emblems
A 1778 London edition of Christopher Harvey's emblem book, adapted from Benedictus van Haeften's Schola cordis and reissued by Charles Edward De Coetlogon for devotional readers. Forty-nine small copperplate emblems show a winged child-angel and a soul-figure handling an oversized heart — weighing, striking, washing, offering it — each set in a rococo scrollwork frame with a plain landscape behind.
