Scientific American, Vol. 2, No. 44 (July 1847)
Scientific American's weekly issue for July 1847, a New York paper of patents, machinery and practical invention edited for mechanics, inventors and farmers in its second volume. The wood engravings are small and utilitarian: lettered sectional views of pumps and presses, a numbered instrument dial in an ornamented square frame, a rigged junk flying the American flag, and diagrams comparing tree forms, useful as compact technical spot art and keyed cutaways.
