Scientific American, Vol. 3, No. 28 (April 1848)
An issue of the weekly American mechanics' and inventors' paper Scientific American, published in New York in April 1848 for patent-seekers, machinists and readers following new manufacturing processes and household recipes. The wood engravings are small technical figures: lever-and-weight test rigs, a drilling machine on its standard, sectional views of a pipe coupling, and a headpiece vignette of a seated woman beside a spinning frame, all built from fine parallel hatching and lettered part keys.
