Scientific American, Vol. 11, No. 34 (May 1856)
A single weekly issue of Scientific American, published by Munn & Co. in New York in May 1856 for inventors, patent agents and working mechanics. The wood engravings are patent diagrams — lock mechanisms in plan and section with lettered parts, keys, boiler and pipe assemblies with valves — plus a blackletter masthead and an engraved corner ornament; useful for technical line work, cutaway conventions and period display lettering.
