A weekly American technical and patent journal, Scientific American, issued in New York in December 1868 for inventors, mechanics and manufacturers. Wood engravings show lathes and treadle-driven machines, hand tools in use, and glass globes, drawn in fine hatching with cast shadows and figure labels, isolated on white for cutting out as spot images or diagram parts.
