Scientific American, Vol. 64, No. 11 (March 1891)

1891 · 26 pictures

A single March 1891 issue of Scientific American, the weekly illustrated technology and patent journal published by Munn & Co. in New York for inventors, engineers, and general readers. The 26 wood engravings are three-quarter machine portraits and sectional cutaways dropped on blank grounds, built from fine parallel hatching that renders cast iron, brass, and turned steel, with occasional workmen's hands for scale; useful as isolated mechanical objects and shading references.
