Scientific American, Vol. 78, No. 7 (February 1898)
An issue of the weekly Scientific American, published in New York in February 1898 for a general readership of engineers, inventors and mechanically curious subscribers. The plates are wood-engraved and halftone technical illustrations: cutaway sections of boilers, valves and shaft couplings with hatched interiors and rivet lines, plus staged laboratory photographs of apparatus on tables, useful for cross-section diagrams, machine-part silhouettes and engraved shading textures.
