Scientific American, Vol. 91, No. 9 (August 1904)
A weekly issue of Scientific American published by Munn & Co. in New York in August 1904, reporting on industry, engineering and the St. Louis exposition for a general technical readership. The 53 pictures are halftones and wood-engraved cuts of machinery in isolation: flywheel presses, pumps, dynamos and cement plant equipment, often silhouetted in heavy black against white or set on blotted, irregular grounds.
