The seal and arms of Pennsylvania
An official 1902 report by James Evelyn Pilcher, printed for the Commonwealth by state printer W. S. Ray in Harrisburg, tracing the history of Pennsylvania's seal and coat of arms for legislators and antiquarians. Forty-two engravings show variant arms: rearing horse supporters, an eagle crest, shields bearing a ship, plough and wheat sheaves, motto ribbons, wreaths, and circular seal borders with reversed lettering.
