The seashore book : Bob and Betty's summer with Captain Hawes
A 1912 American picture book for children, written and illustrated by E. Boyd Smith and published by Houghton Mifflin, following two city children through a summer at the shore with a retired sea captain. The line drawings are sparse pen outlines with hatched water and shadow, showing dories, rigged schooners, whaling alongside a ship, wading children with toy boats, and low horizons with wide empty sky, useful for nautical spot art, headpieces and simple figure silhouettes.
